International 40. Radiology Congress was held in Antalya. Prof.
Dr. Tuncay Hazırolan, chairman of the Congress and Turkish
Radiology Association, told the Sağlık Dergisi that 80-90 of
the desired 100 imaging requests were normal, which meant
that patients were not properly examined. Patients admit-
ted to the problem clinic in Turkey are mostly directed dire-
ctly to radiology. The reason for this is that doctors do not
have adequate examination time or a proper examination
can not be done. Therefore, doctors need to be provided with
adequate examination periods. If this happens, the number
of examinations coming to radiology will decrease, the cost
to the country will decrease, and the dose of radiation rece-
ived by the patients will decrease,” he said. Prof. Dr.Hazıro-
lan, stating that there are big problems in imaging reporting,
“There are 600 MRI-reporting radiologists a day. How healt-
hy a system can be. This vicious circle needs to be broken. It
should be determined how much a radiologist will report to
the maximum per day,” he said.
